CanRevive raised Liver Cancer awareness in South West Sydney To continue helping the Chinese speaking population including Chinese cancer patients and carers in the South West region, CanRevive organized a “Liver Cancer Awareness & Resource Information Day” on 23rd July 2016 at the Cabravale Diggers Club in Canley Vale.

The event is a partnership effort with Cancer Council NSW and Australian Chinese Medical Association, sponsored by Australian Chinese Charity Foundation and ACMA Charitable Trust.

Over 130 people attended the whole day free event where information seminars, information stalls and on-site Hepatitis B blood test were delivered.

Seminars were being conducted by specialists in Liver: Dr. Nghi Phung, Associate Professor Kai Ping Wong and Dr. Simon So; Dietitian, Ms. Fay Yu and Chinese Medicine Herbalist Mr. Gangping Huang. Participants were able to access cancer related information on Hepatitis B & C, liver cancer diagnosis and treatment, healthy diet as well as the role of Chinese medicine in treating liver diseases.

Besides CanRevive, information stalls holders included Hepatitis B Free, South Western Sydney Primary Health Network, Multicultural HIV & Hepatitis Services, Cancer Council NSW and Australian Nursing Home Foundation. They contributed valuable Chinese resources to the participants.

CanRevive hopes to continue to benefit the local community by raising cancer awareness, improving access to services, promoting early intervention and most importantly, providing culturally appropriate support services for cancer patients and their carers.

CanRevive Inc. is a public benevolent institution, established in 1995 at Haymarket Sydney, to support Chinese speaking people through their cancer journey. Its aim is to help minimize the impact of cancer on patients and their families by providing information and emotional support to cater for their cultural and linguistic needs. CanRevive has started an outreach service and targeted the Chinese cancer patients and carers living in the South West Sydney Region since 2012.
