CanRevive Inc. is a voluntary not-for-profit organization dedicated to provide a comprehensive range of information and support services to those affected by cancer in the Chinese community. Volunteers play a crucial role to our service delivery (i.e. answering telephone, talking with patients, visiting patients in hospitals, running special events such as fundraising and cancer awareness and information day). Hence, we welcome those who are interested in serving the community at both our City and/or Southern (Hurstville) Offices plus our outreach programs across the Northern and South-Western Sydney regions.

What we do

CanRevive’s mission has always been about care and support for cancer patients and their carers in our Chinese communities. It is the heart of every member of CanRevive, including its executives, staff and volunteers to reach out in a special way through talking to our service recipients in their home language, mainly Cantonese and Mandarin.

With understanding and compassion on patients’ and carers’ pressing need for answers on illness and treatment, CanReivive obtains and shares expert advice from medical professionals who have come to know us and become our friends over a service history of over 20 years.

We welcome you

We warmly welcome you to join us as a volunteer in our mission to help serve Chinese cancer patients and carers; some of whom can conveniently come to our City and Southern (Hurstville) Offices. You are also welcomed to help deliver outreach programs outside these two offices, including cancer information sessions, support groups and hospital visits, over the Northern and South-Western Sydney regions.

We do training

Training will be provided to ensure that volunteering at CanRevive will be a truly rewarding experience. It will help you appreciate use of communication skills to handle people emotions, over telephone or face-to-face meetings, build rapport through showing empathy, and encourage most needed trust between patients, carers and medical professionals.

In our journey together, you would also enjoy learning craft-work, making food, doing exercises and making important decisions too. Some volunteers have become committed members in executive roles. Spending time to take charge of our reception desk on everyday administration, such as course enrolment, handling money figures, registering ins and outs, library loan, will also be ways to work with us and understand the full operation of CanRevive.

We celebrate

We are keen to celebrate with you over hard work every year, in the midst of facilitating patients’ and carers’ progress in living with cancers. We assure you that as a volunteer, you will enjoy this big family of care and support and find happiness in our special celebrations every year.

To make volunteering come true, please contact our City office on (02) 9212 7789.  Alternatively please download and fill out the following application form and email it back to: info@canrevive.com or mail it to Level 4, 741 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000.
